Scream Bloody Murder - A report by Christiane Amanpour
Christian Amanpour put a report together after the terrorist attacks of Mumbai. The report talks about the history of genocide and begins with the introduction of the word of genocide to the word by a man. It covers shocking stories you haven't even heard of through the past century that could have been stopped but no action had taken place.
This is the beginning part of the story as I can find it on youtube. There is also a webpage dedicated to Screem Bloody Murder on the CNN's website. You can find more information there.
The following is the official description of the video.
"In a two-hour special report, CNN chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour will report on the recurring nightmare of genocide and the largely unknown struggles of the heroes who witnessed evil - and "screamed bloody murder" for the international community to stop it.
Ms. Amanpour said, "One of the people we look back on is Raphael Lemkin, who . . . coined the term genocide specifically after the Armenian Genocide and put that word right there in our vocabulary and lobbied very, very hard for the Convention that would define that word."
The program touches briefly on the Armenian Genocide in the context of Lemkin's outrage that the murder of one person is a capital crime, but the murder of an entire people was not defined as such.
